Yes, owls are cute. If you’ve ever seen an Eastern Screech Owl in person, you’ll know just how dang cute they come. As a child, however, I had a run-in with a Great Horned Owl that had taken over the swing set in my backyard and imprinted on me a fear of the creature that lasted many years. In my memory, that owl was as big as my 5-year-old self, though now I know it could have been no bigger than maybe two feet in height (the neighbor, who witnessed the event, did say that it had the wingspan of a piano — imagine that coming at you as a kid!). In hindsight, I’m sure I scared that poor owl just as much as it scared me!
As an adult, I’ve come to love and appreciate this predatory bird. Plus, they really are super adorable. Each of these cute little wool applique owl ornaments is drawn out, carefully cut, and handstitched by yours truly. The oval portion of the ornament measures approximately 2.75″ tall by 2″ wide. Of course because of the handmade nature of this item, minor variations may exist from one ornament to another.
