The garden gnome as we know it has been a hot item ever since 1847 when Sir Charles Isham brought 21 terra cotta gnome statues back from Nuremburg, Germany to decorate his rock garden in England.
Each wool applique gnome ornament is drawn out, carefully cut, and handstitched by yours truly. The oval portion of the ornament measures approximately 2.75″ tall by 2″ wide. Of course because of the handmade nature of this item, minor variations may exist from one ornament to another.
