When I was 10, the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha opened its new 70,000 gallon saltwater aquarium which was going to feature sharks. Growing up in Nebraska, my only exposure to sharks was the movie Jaws. So imagine my immense disappointment when the Great White I eagerly anticipated being nose-to-nose with turned out to be an 8-foot lemon shark. What I did learn that day was that sharks come in a myriad of shapes and sizes, perhaps one of the most interesting being the aptly named hammerhead shark.
Each wool applique hammerhead shark ornament is drawn out, carefully cut, and handstitched by yours truly. The oval portion of the ornament measures approximately 2.75″ wide by 2″ tall. Of course because of the handmade nature of this item, minor variations may exist from one ornament to another.
